Within the scope of Aswan Governorate, the state is working to attract investments, overcome all obstacles to investors, and increase investments in a way. Greater in light of the one-stop-shop system that is being implemented during the current period, supporting national industry and encouraging investment with the aim of advancing the economy and development and overcoming all obstacles facing industrial project owners, and the continuous endeavor and continuous coordination between the Ministry of Local Development and Aswan Governorate to open new horizons of investment, and attract more. Of investment projects, in addition to confronting challenges with serious and effective ideas and visions to achieve the common good of the citizen.
It is what complements the political leadership’s emphasis during Upper Egypt Week in 2021 on the necessity of supporting small investors, solving their problems, and legalizing their conditions within the framework of the state’s keenness to integrate the informal economy and open new marketing outlets for small investors. The state has also prepared the industrial, investment, and economic map that Aswan Governorate owns. In addition to the industrial areas and clusters that characterize Aswan, such as the industrial zone in Al-Alaqi, as well as the craft industrial zone in El-Geneina and El-Shabak in Nasr El-Nuba, as well as the establishment of the largest logistics zone in Karkar on an area of 600 acres, which is parallel to the many relative advantages that characterize Aswan Governorate, in terms of its location. Geography, infrastructure, airports and ports, which qualifies it to be linked to African markets.
The industrial zone in Al-Allaqi is also being transformed into a model area with integrated services and facilities in a civilized and comprehensive manner at the highest level in a manner befitting the capital of the African economy, with the beginning of preparing a study to establish a logistical zone for marble and granite in a scientific and technical manner, as well as implementing a camera surveillance system so that it is secured in a distinguished technical and professional manner. To achieve control over the entire area, it must be operated 24 hours a day and at night, and it should be stored for a period of 90 days so that theft can be reduced and the factories, workshops, and other components in the area can be preserved.
As a reflection of this, it is scheduled to hold a regular meeting with the investors of the industrial zone in Al-Allaqi, factory owners, and representatives of various sectors to discuss any obstacles or future needs to serve the owners of multi-activity workshops and factories, and directives for the drinking water and sanitation company to carry out maintenance and disinfection work for the sewage networks in the industrial zone in Al-Alaqi, as well as Aswan / Al-Alaqi Road, where a PLC panel will be designed, which will be used to raise and lower the voltage, which will contribute to developing a radical solution to confront any problems with water shut-offs. An amount of 2 million pounds has been allocated to supply the pumps and their motors, and the main valve will be operated at the entrance to Gate No. (2). ) next to the lift station with the radial system as a temporary solution, until the work of the PLC panels is completed.
Recently, a delegation of members of the National Initiative for the Development of Egyptian Industry “Ebda” visited Aswan, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Hayat Karima Foundation, in order to discuss ways of joint cooperation and maximizing the benefit of the initiative in promoting Egyptian industry and resolving the problems facing investors, industrial zones, and faltering factories in the governorate.
The National Initiative for the Development of Egyptian Industry “Ibdaa” aims to enhance the role of the private sector in developing the Egyptian industry, localize modern industries to reduce the import gap, as well as qualify Egyptian workers and provide job opportunities in various fields, and encourage and implement the largest number of industrial projects with high added value. The goals of the initiative are integrated with the national goals of the Egyptian state, its international commitments, and its efforts towards achieving sustainable economic and social growth, providing clean energy solutions, and innovation in the industrial field, by working on 3 axes, which are the axis of major projects, the axis of supporting industries, and the axis of research, development, and training.
Aswan Governorate is witnessing the establishment of investment projects and factories to employ youth, as part of the harbingers of the new republic, and as a whole, an unprecedented development, service and investment shift has occurred for Aswan Governorate. This comes within the framework of the state’s plan to exploit the economic potential of Aswan. Development projects are diverse in various economic, developmental and investment axes. According to a strategy aimed at achieving integrated and sustainable development in the governorates of Upper Egypt within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, to achieve high rates of employment and a development return for the targeted areas, while investing in human and natural resources.
In southern Aswan, projects are planned to be implemented, within the international logistics zone in Karkar, to become a commercial and touristic launching base towards the COMESA countries and the Nile Basin, and aim to provide real direct and indirect job opportunities for thousands of Aswanian youth, as they will include the establishment of an international transport park on an area of 200 acres that will accommodate more than 600 trucks represent the land bridge for commercial movement between Egypt and African markets, as well as passenger bus trips. It will also include a management headquarters, a merchandise village, gas stations, motels, and various services from cafes, in addition to the establishment of a food industry complex with an area of 40 acres that will include production lines for the date and mango concentrate industries. And other agricultural crops for which Aswan is famous, and the integrated poultry project on an area of 1,000 acres in Benban, Daraw Center, at an estimated cost of 236 million pounds, and a capacity of 3.6 million birds per year. It is one of the development projects that will contribute to providing white meat to the local market, with export. Other quantities will be distributed to neighboring governorates. It will also provide 200 direct job opportunities and 400 indirect job opportunities.
It should be noted that the Upper Egypt Development Authority, in cooperation with Aswan Governorate and Al-Najah Partners, is implementing many development projects in the social, agricultural and industrial axes, the most prominent of which is pumping investments of 35 million pounds in equipment, machines and craft machines into 18 craft workshops and 2 exhibitions for marketing products in the industrial complex. The craftsman in the village of Ballana in the Nasr Al-Nuba Center, which was established within the projects of President Sisi’s initiative “A Decent Life” at a cost of 11 million pounds within 2 complexes that were implemented in Ballana, and the other in the village of Ramadi Qebli in the Edfu Center with the aim of providing hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities for young people, while 3 will be established. Other industrial complexes in Karkar, Fares, and Sabaiya, with areas ranging between 2,500 m2 and 1,000 m2. The Authority also implemented the Karkar Valley Village Development Project, which witnessed the implementation of a heritage crafts workshop, a water station and tank, and a youth center, which coincides with the project to establish an agricultural greenhouse complex in cooperation. With the Ministry of Agriculture to produce cane seedlings in Kom Ombo, at a rate of 10 million seedlings per season, within the framework of the state’s plan to rationalize the use of irrigation water and reduce the costs of cane cultivation, as it is a strategic crop.
Aswan witnessed the launch of a number of diverse investment projects that will provide thousands of real job opportunities, including the opening of a tourist hotel after it stopped for more than 12 years, and also the opening and operation of 27 factories in the industrial zone in Al-Allaqi, with the start of implementation of the integrated poultry project in Benban at an investment cost of 300 million pounds. An area of 100 acres as a first phase and many, many more. The units and workshops were delivered to the youth who benefited from the industrial zone in El Geneina and El Shebbak in Nasr El Nubia, with a total of 47 units for 37 investors. The industrial zone includes 308 units and a craft workshop that was recently launched through the General Authority for Industrial Development, which is parallel to the work. In the largest global logistics zone being implemented on an area of 600 acres in the Karkar region, it will contribute directly to openness to African markets.
This embodies a tangible reality with the opening and operation of more factories, in addition to a future vision for Aswan to become the trade and economic gateway to African markets by providing a base represented by the new global logistics zone planned to be established. 27 factories were opened and operated in the old industrial zone in Allaqi at a cost of 150 million pounds within 34… The factory is planned to be opened and operated in stages, which will contribute to providing hundreds of job opportunities for Aswan’s youth. Aswan Governorate has succeeded in gentrifying the region and supporting it by installing 10 electricity transformers, to study expansion and achieve investment expansion within the industrial zone on an area of 50 acres to benefit from the economic advantages and its proximity. Of the huge reserves of mineral and quarry materials, which works to achieve global competitiveness and added value, in light of governmental and parliamentary support to eliminate investment obstacles, especially the multiplicity of state regions, in addition to working to develop industrial zones.
Aswan has all the economic components of mining and quarry wealth and multiple sources of energy, in addition to the infrastructure of road networks, land and river ports, and airports. It should be noted that the establishment of a new area is being studied to establish a specialized industrial zone for phosphate ore in the north of the governorate, and to activate the industrial zone in the city of Aswan. The new project covers an area of 2000 acres to implement industrial activities based on natural components of various natural and quarry raw materials, in order to attract more investment opportunities and create direct and indirect job opportunities for Aswan youth.
A study is currently underway to establish a date manufacturing complex in the village of Benban, at an investment cost of up to 10 million pounds, and on an area of 21 thousand square metres. It aims to produce the equivalent of 5 to 7 thousand tons of dates in the first phase, and will contribute to providing 200 job opportunities for the people of the Benban region in particular, as it is the largest. Globally produces solar energy, and also contributes to serving date producers at the governorate level in general in light of the association’s societal role, and that this complex aims to achieve a sustainable community contribution due to the packaging, manufacturing and packaging services it will provide for the region’s main product, which is dates, and allows for an increase in the added value to it. The annual production volume is estimated at more than 25 million pounds, especially as it targets logistical and manufacturing operations that support the export of date products to global markets. This complex, the first of its kind, aims to be designed according to standard international standards and specifications that are compatible with the standards of the World Bank to be of global quality, as it was designed Coordinating with the Solar Energy Sustainers Association and the Life Vision Foundation to establish specialized production areas for traditional craft products for the first time, with the aim of promoting the idea of Hope Makers to employ young men and women in non-traditional professions, regardless of the type of academic qualification they hold.
